"Hans Hofmann taught me to paint with vigor, to use my arm as well as my hand,
to use pigment as a an expressive material, that is, to consider the manner
in which color is applied - rapidly or slowly, in a thick or thin impasto.

BIOGRAPHY

The artist who seems to have most successfully absorbed Hoffman's teachings was Kasten, who studied at Hoffman's school in Provincetown in the early 1950s.
