BRUCE MCGAW
Painter, b. 1935

Although not the oldest of the second generation, Bruce McGaw was the only one to be included in the 1957 Contemporary Bay Area Figurative Painting exhibition (Bischoff, Diebenkorn, Park, Weeks, et al.). Born in 1935, he was in fact the youngest in the show, and recalls that "I got in on Diebenkorn's coattails .... I didn't even meet Park until virtually the night of the opening." Of all the students at the California College of Arts and Crafts, Mcgaw was perhaps closest to Diebenkorn.
